OnTop easyMES is built with security as a foundation and uses Microsoft Azure[1] as its operating platform. This provides high operational reliability, continuous security updates, and a modern cloud infrastructure with continental security controls.

Microsoft Azure is covered by certifications according to ISO/IEC 27001[2] for relevant services. Our solution combines this foundation with our own internal processes for information security, access management, and data protection.

Secure and isolated customer data  

• No data is shared between customers due to isolated databases for each customer.
• All information is stored securely in Microsoft Azure.
• Users and devices can be quickly blocked when needed, for example in case of computer theft.
• All traffic occurs via HTTPS[3] with modern encryption.
• Databases are protected behind firewalls[4] without external access.

Secure and flexible IoT solution

• IoT hub is activated and configured according to the customer's specific needs.
• IoT hub only sends data outward to OnTop, i.e., no remote access is available for OnTop or anyone else.
• Collected data is sent encrypted to the correct customer environment. In case of loss of Internet connection, signals are saved in the IoT hub's memory to then send these signals as soon as the Internet connection is restored. This is to avoid data loss in case of Internet connection problems.

Built-in protection & monitoring

• Protection against DDoS attacks[5] and intrusions via Microsoft Azure.
• Secure management of keys and passwords.
• Automatic monitoring and continuous improvement of security.

In short: OnTop combines Microsoft's security platform with its own solutions to protect customer data, users, and connected devices with modern and updated security solutions.
